Building an Improved Infrastructure for Collection Analysis of Nursing Workforce Data Healthcare Reform The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed in 2010 with the goal of expanding healthcare coverage to all Americans by reforming insurance policies and practices (Tillett, 2011). The ACA upsurges the demand for an increase in primary care providers in order to supply quality care to the much larger population that will have coverage and therefore acquiring healthcare. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) through its report The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health has generated a solution to the shortage of primary care providers by promoting a transformation of the nursing profession to fill the gap. The IOM report had four key†¦show more content†¦Currently there are no standardized reporting systems for the collection of data on interprofessional healthcare workforce. Hassmiller Goodman (2011), postulated that the fragmented data on healthcare workforce resulting from research conducted by separate professions are deficient in that they do not focus on an combination of healthcare professionals in a given region. The National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses (NSSRN) is the primary source for obtaining national data on the nursing workforce and is essential in making federal forecast on nursing supply (Nooney, et. al 2010). The data is collected every 4 years by selecting a large sample from the licensing databases to complete a survey. The data collected contained information about education, employment, demographic characteristics and a variety of trends (Auerbach, Staiger, Muench Buerhaus, 2012). Other sources of obtaining information on the nursing workforce come from the United States Census Bureau surveys: the Current Population Survey (CPS) and the American communities Survey (ACS). Buerhaus, Auerbach, Staiger Muench (2013), reports that data from theses surveys were used to anticipate a long-term need of the nursing workforce by region of the United States, taking into account the exit and entry rates of nurses in the workforce, ages of nurses, along population ages between 1973 and 2010. The data gathered could be used to identify regions and statesShow MoreRelatedRecognizing The Changing Health Care System2383 Words   |  10 Pagesthe nursing profession. Adidas Company Profile - 1181 Words

Adidas Company Profile Adidas is a company based in Germany that primarily makes shoes and sports apparel that operates all over the world and one of the countries that Adidas does business in is China. Adidas uses a low cost strategy in China. Adidas believes that to get more business, it must lower costs to attract people who don’t make much money and those customers will see the quality of the product and continue buying products from Adidas. The cultural environment in China is different from Germany’s cultural environment. China has a strong structure where an order by a superior is expected to be obeyed fully and any questioning of that order would show disrespect. This is different from Germany as the these laws are much stricter in China. Luckily, Adidas already went through this process. Adidas must als o be aware of intellectual property rights in China. It should patent, copyright, and trademark all logos and products. There is a problem though as, â€Å"there is widespread violation and ineffective enforcement of law.†(â€Å"Top Eight Legal†). The laws about patenting, copyrighting, and trade marking are similar in Germany, but there isn’t as many issues with people violating the patents, copyrights, and trademarks and if there is an issue law enforcement handles it well. China handles disputes between two companies or parties by arbitration that should be in a clause in a contract. The clause is normally very specific with location, language to be spoken, and which country’s law will be in effect. This is to be done to get a fair deal that both sides can agree on. This is important as a dispute is sure to be had, so Adidas should know how this will be handled. Adidas handles mode of entry in China in two different ways. It is a wholly owned subsidiar y and it licenses Reebok shoes when it, â€Å"has taken control of the distribution and license rights for the Reebok brand in China.† (â€Å"Adidas Group Takes Control†). Going Green free essay sample

In this report we are concerned about the theme â€Å"Going Green† in Hotels. What they have to think about and how they act to change their bad habits about pollution. What are the advantages and disadvantages out of going green for hotels? Pic. 2 2. â€Å"Going Green† 3. 1. Description â€Å"Going Green† is a popular term used to describe the process of changing one’s lifestyle for the safety and benefit of the environment. † (D. Grossman, 2006) Nowadays, there are quite a few laws, which contain the going green factor that means human being cannot use has much resources as they want. 3. 2. Happenings There is a huge amount of information about â€Å"Going Green† on the World Wide Web, in books, magazine, reports and document shows. There are current new information available and people have to be more aware about it. One young child from Germany got what many politicians wish to achieve, namely he got the attention from many important people from all over the world by creating a going green company called: â€Å"Plant For The Planet†. Which is a start, but there is no law regarding old engines. Next would be to recycle old garments, and use refillable glass bottles. If we can pass the laws to make it mandatory to reuse more items such as engines, then we can cut down on the carbon dioxide from the factories producing new engines. Another way is if we make companies like Coca-Cola use refillable glass bottles, then we can reduce how much plastic is used yearly and recycle more often. In 2009, the U. S. generated thirty million tons of plastic but only recycled two million tons. I use a reusable water bottle instead of using a new plastic bottle every day. Also I recycle any paper, plastics, and glass I do use daily. These small things can make a big difference. In some articles there are many steps to go green at home with little effort. They suggest letting the fresh air in, wiping one’s feet to reduce using energy to clean, cleaning green, pulling the plug, and not touching the thermostat. Some articles suggest bringing one’s own bags when shopping, and saying bye-bye to bottled water. When we go to the grocery store we should bring reusable shopping bags or ask for paper bags and recycle after using. In San Francisco, starting the beginning of 2013 all retail stores need to no longer have plastic shopping bags they can only have; compostable bags, recycled paper bags, or reusable bags. With this change the retail stores are now going to be charging ten cents per shopping bag. If we do this every time we go to the grocery store, then we can cut back on how many plastic bags are used, which can save our environment. I myself purchased a few reusable bags which I bring with me every time I go grocery shopping. Finally, there are also some ways to reduce energy and household expenses. To do this we should be raising (lower) the home thermostat, brew one’s own coffee, take the â€Å"change a light† pledge which is to swap a regular light bulb for an energy star light bulb or CFL bulb. Another is to turn off and unplug electronics. Be mindful of paper products, make homemade cleaning products, and let clothes dry outside on the line. Another is slowing down on the highway, cutting back on driving by carpooling, and lastly, planting a tree. If we can all take charge and take a few of these steps such as unplugging electronics, using the dryer less, carpooling to work every day, then these simple steps can change our lives. By integrating these steps into our lives little by little, we can all cut back on how much energy we use. In 2008, the average cost for household energy was close to six thousand dollars. Just changing to a dial thermostat can save families hundred fifty dollars per year and by turning down the thermostat can save five percent on their energy bill. Consequently, these steps can save families money. In conclusion, we all need to take a few moments out of our day to think or actually do these tips on how to be â€Å"green†, then we could dramatically lessen our impact on our planet. But it doesn’t just stop with what our families do. We should pass the tips on to other family members and friends to get new ideas. Everyone should do their part in making the environment a safer place for future generations. It is important that we reuse and recycle, find green alternatives at home and save both energy and money in the long run. If we all just practice these few simple tips on being â€Å"green†, then we will have a cleaner planet.

The European Renaissance Essay Thesis Example For Students

The European Renaissance Essay Thesis The Renaissance was a period of European history, considered by modern scholars as that between 1300 and 1600. Many dramatic changes happened during the Renaissance. The Renaissance was a period of new inventions and beliefs. The Renaissance was drastically different from the Middle Ages. During the Middle Ages the church held most of the power and its economy was agriculturally based. Exploration and learning was almost put to a stop. During the Renaissance society was transformed into a society increasingly dominated by central political institutions with an urban commercial attitude. Also, peoples curiosity overcame their fear and many people started to venture out and explore. New schools and colleges became more and more common. The Renaissance was started by many rich Italian cities, such as Florence, Ferrara, Milan ,and Venice. Because these cities were very wealthy, many merchants started to spend money on different things, such as painting, learning, new banking techniques, and new systems of government. These things gave rise to a new type of scholar, the humanist. Humanism was subjects concerned with humankind and culture. We will write a custom essay on The European Renaissance Thesis specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now They studied various things such as Latin, Greek anguage, literature and philosophy. Music and mathematics were also studied as well. The Renaissance gave way to new forms of painting , art and sculpture. During the Renaissance, artist were no longer regarded as mere artisans, as they had been to the medieval past, but for the first time emerged as independent personalities, compared to poets and writers. Many artisans merged mathematics with art , in order to become more precise in their measurements and to make sure an object was supported both rationally and proportionally. As a result painters tried and often succeeded into making their painting a window nto the world. Artists also studied the way light hits objects and the way our eyes perceive light. A new kind of paint called oil paint was used. This allowed the artist to create texture , mix colors, and allow more time for corrections before it dried. The printing press was probably the most important advance in technology. Europeans first used movable metal type to print a book. On small pieces of metal they engraved single letters of the alphabet. These could then be arranged and rearranged to form words and sentences. Johan Gutenberg is usually given credit for the first ook printed, a copy of the Bible. By the 1500s printing presses where fairly well spread. The printing press had many effects on the world. First of all, it made books much easier to come by, which made them cheaper. That meant common people could afford them. As a result literacy became more widespread, in contrast to the Middle Ages where usually monks and church officials were the only able to read. Second, since many more people were able to read, they wanted to read subjects other than religious or scientific work. So books on other subjects were published as well. Also many books were published in anguages other than Latin, such as English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and Italian. A third effect was that scholars had better access to one anothers work. They could also read the great works of the ancient and medieval periods. The Renaissance also had an effect on the general society. Many people became interested in politics. Also, people became interested in the world outside of their towns. Many became explorers, merchants, and map makers. Religion especially changed during the Renaissance. In the Middle ages people were primarily concerned with serving the church and getting to heaven. But he increase in arts and education gave people something to look forward to, and a life worth living. So in turn, people based their lives around various other things instead of the church. Because of the increase in literacy people learned that the Catholic Church only told the populous what they wanted them to hear. This caused many people to break away from the church and form Protestant religions. The Renaissance produced many great minds. Leonardo da Vinci was one of these. Although he was not regarded as a genius in his time. He had numerous works of art such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a , .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .postImageUrl , .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a , .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a:hover , .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a:visited , .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a:active { border:0!important; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a:active , .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue0f4b6d3504a500d41266b7a4a60db6a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Food Disorders EssayHe also is now regarded as a great inventor.
